Doctrine and Covenants Section 116 names the place formerly known as Spring Hill "Adam-ondi-Ahman" and says it is the place where Adam will come before the Second Coming
Doctrine and Covenants 107:53-56 identifies Adam-ondi-Ahman as the place Adam bestowed his last blessing on his posterity
Saints began settling in the area February 1838, and the settlement’s population was eventually estimated between 1,500 and 2,000, with many living in tents and wagons. Lyman Wight was the first to build a home there, and he also constructed a ferry
Among other things, the saints laid cornerstones for a temple block, which Brigham Young dedicated. A stake was also organized there in a conference 28 June 1838
Latter-day Saint men conducted raids from the settlement in response to threats
The Missouri militia came to Daviess County after the surrender of Far West and ordered the saints to leave within ten days
By 20 November 1838 the settlement at Adam-ondi-Ahman was almost completely abandoned
